(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Maintaining a bathroom’s cleanliness is not as easy a one would think. In fact, a lot of Homestead renters will find doing that quite challenging. An organized bathroom is definitely easier to maintain. Also, it can actually aid in your morning routine. Clutter can produce feelings of anxiety or frustration. Hence, make sure your bathroom is organized to promote feelings of relaxation. However, if you want your bathroom to be organized, you have to be willing to put in the time and effort! Read on for some easy and practical tips to keeping your bathroom as organized as possible.

Declutter

In order to get started on an organized bathroom, it is a big must to declutter. A good number of people won’t even know it, but they have too many things inside their own bathrooms. As such, it’s best practice to go through all your cabinets, drawers, or shelves, and sift through your items to determine which ones to dump. It should go without saying that anything expired should head straight to the trash. Pack similar items together and take stock of what you have. Any items duplicated and have still not been used in the last year or so should be thrown out. Whatever items you have left can then be kept and organized.

Categorize to Organize

Once decluttering is done, it is now time to start categorizing. Organizing will be way easier once you get that done first. If the only person that uses the bathroom is you, then you can simply categorize items according to your routine. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. But if the bathroom is used by other people, you can give each of them a caddy for their personal items. Those caddies can then be placed on a shelf or a cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

A disorganized bathroom is usually one where people don’t know where items are placed. So that things are easy to spot, invest in some clear storage containers. After categorizing your items, you can store them in these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. To provide organization for shelves and cabinets, you can utilize taller containers to divide certain items.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, assign each of your items to a designated place. This will prevent clutter from happening all over again. It’s also a good idea to keep the bathroom counter cleared off of any loose items. Instead, you can opt for bins, drawers, and baskets. Don’t underestimate the practice of labeling storage containers — it works wonders for keeping track of where things are!

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. Most of the time, the space you have to work with is very limited, making it extra challenging to make things work. It’s quite possible, though, that there is some underutilized space inside your bathroom. No matter how small, it can help to organize your space. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. These are some spaces that you can capitalize on to make your bathroom clean and organized.
